ONCALL RECORDS MOBILE FIELD REPORTING

ONCALL RECORDS MOBILE FIELD REPORTING

PRODUCT GOAL

To provide officers in the field a quick way to report on the events they respond to. In addition to providing a quick, efficient report writing solution, it also ensure safety for officers by minimizing their time sitting idle in their vehicle, and allows them to move on to their next task and help more people.

INTENDED USERS

  • Police officers writing reports in the car / mobile environment.

  • Supervisors who review & approve reports.

MY ROLE (DESIGNER + RESEARCHER)

My involvement on this product spans both the design & research roles. When I started at Octave (then Hexagon Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial), the product was in its infancy. Development was not complete - it was not yet available for users.

This provided a unique opportunity to help influence the final design of the product. Working in a small design team (myself + another designer), I’ve been supporting the growth of this product, interviewing users virtually and onsite regarding expected functionality & workflows, and am about to see it through to delivery for agencies across the country.

DESIGN EXAMPLES

On this project, I support designs for bugs, user change requests, and enhancements. I also collaborate daily with development teams. The images below are examples of designs I’ve completed and contributed to in alignment with our team’s design system.

RESEARCH EXAMPLES

From a research perspective, we mesh feedback from customers, internal SMEs, and compare existing paper forms per agency to ensure that we are hitting user expectations by providing the most common fields and workflows for users. Examples of this type of research can be seen below.
